Re: Grain Gorilla
Will it take a cordless drill - I always think the winding might become tedious once the newness wears off? Like waiting for a cordless drill battery to charge? I reckon you're better off getting a mill that's compatible with a corded drill, personally  Failing to prepare is preparing to fail...

Re: Just ordered from MM--stressful!
I've ordered a couple of times from The Malt Miller since lockdown. Yes you have to wait until they are taking malt orders but I haven't had to mess around too much and the delivery time has been fantastic. Got to say I have been really impressed with how Rob has conducted his business in the last c...

Re: Shorter, cooler dry hopping times
I gave this a go after reading this article. One of my favourite beers that I make is a light coloured bitter that I dry hop with Target pellets after reading that Derek Prentice (Wimbledon brewery, Fullers, Youngs and others) was a fan. I use 30 grams of pellets in a 25 ltr batch at 19-20C for 3-4 ...

Me too. I used a packet of Notty yesterday afternoon Best before date Dec 18. Had been stored in a fridge since purchase. Rehydrated and pitched, nice rocky head this morning.

Thanks for that Dave. So late additions rather than early... Any hops it goes particularly well with?

Pilgrim recipes please!
Hi All, I have 150g of Pilgrim that I would like to use up. It's not really a hop have used much (although I must have used 50g somewhere...) so I wanted a steer on what it's good in/with? Rather than the default SMASH type brew, I wondered if anyone has a recipe they would like to share that I coul...

Re: How to condition and when to bottle
I've never quite understood that either. Do you not lose carbonation during the bottling process?

Re: Adding salts to the grain
Thanks for the steer. I will have a go at working out a profile along these lines (and I'll ignore the various red flag pop ups on the calculator as I always do!) and hopefully Version IV TTL will be yet nearer!

Re: Fermentation complete?
Im not experianced with your choice of yeast. Personally leave it 7 days check the gravity, leave it another week check gravity again it should be roughly the same. Then put it gently into a secondry leaving the yeast and turb behind. Leave for 2 weeks in a cooler enviroment. Then bottle of keg. My...

Re: Adding salts to the grain
Interesting... I have gone through a few iterations of TTL without getting a good clone, but still tasty beer. Do you happen to know what the Sulphate/Chloride balance would be for TTL?orlando wrote: Chloride biased beers tend to be darker beers (TTL is a notable exception)

89.1% Maris Otter, 5% Flaked Barley, 4.7% Medium Crystal, 1.3% Roasted Barley. 25g Phoenix First Wort, 25g Phoenix 10 mins, 25g Phoenix 1min. Fullers yeast. 18 ltrs @ 4.7% ABV Very tasty... Although I would probably squeeze down the Roasted Barley a little next time around to maybe 1%

Re: Re-Using Wyeast (or any yeast?)
Hello I'm after a bit of experience-based advice on re-using yeast - specifically Wyeast 1469. I'll be making a brew soon, similar to Graham Wheeler's Timothy Taylor Landlord from his Brew Your Own book but with a touch of crystal malt, a pinch of chocolate malt and a little more hops. I'd then lik...
