Re: Yet another Thermobox mash tun
Thanks for the reply Kev. Looking at the price of those cutters (likely to be £30+ with delivery for the size I need) I think I'll give it a shot with the Dremel. I took a punt on one of these and it was brilliant. Just lubricate with some wd40 and it goes through in about 10 seconds https://upload...

Re: Crusader Queries
I used the 5p trick for ages but recently got fed up with messing about so removed the safeties. As long as you're sensible and depressurise before unscrewing there's no issue in just removing them. There are a few different types of safety but commonly you just have to bend the three metal ends and...

Re: Am I doing something wrong......
Got back after a bike ride yesterday, with a mate of mine, ready for a brief mid week session. Turned the gas on, turned the pressure regulator to the desired pressure and poured 2 lovely pints. Went back for second helpings to find the contents of the keg all over the fridge and cellar floor :x :x...

Re: The Bain of my Life
Quote "It was a solvent like, TCP taste, completely disgusting if I remember right." That was almost certainly down to insufficient rinsing of a chlorine based sanitiser such as VWP in the FV and not a bacterial infection. The bottles therefore should be OK after a thorough wash and re sanitising. ...

Re: The Bain of my Life
Starsan's strong points are convenience and not needing to be rinsed, rather than killing power, so when there is a known infection I wouldn't rely on it alone for disinfecting. I know that starsan doesn't kill certain microbes or wild yeast. Is there a no rinse sanitizer that's more effective? Par...

The Bain of my Life
It may well work, but depends if the PBW got them physically clean and what they were infected with. Dishwashers may only get to 75c and starsan (whilst convenient) isn't the best disinfectant in the world. Personally, after an infection I'd be wanting hotter temperatures for longer. Or else better...

The Bain of my Life
So I had an infected batch a few years ago and they've been in my dad's garage for ages. Decided I wanted the bottles (a good 60 330ml bottles all de labelled) so today I've finally summoned up the courage to sort them out. I've rinsed them out, then cleaned with PBW and a bottle brush. Given them a...

Re: Off taste after 4-6 weeks in Corni kegs
Hello All, The last three all grain brews I've made have all turned sour (slightly acidic) after approx 4-6 weeks storage in Corni kegs. The beer tasted OK before. Have been using the same equipment and methods for 2 years now. Do you have any suggestions to help elimimate this problem? BREWING EQU...

Looks like a great recipe, I've never tried making invert sugar myself. Is it fairly straightforward?

I've heard of people using multiple yeast strains in order to get the flavours of one, and the flocculation of another. My random thought of the day...
What would happen if you pitched a lager strain with an ale yeast? I don't think I'm brave enough to try lol

The worktop extends back a good 3/4 inches so there is room between the fridge and the wall (the cabinet is open at the back)vacant wrote:The pics don't show if you have ventilation for the radiator at the back of the fridge.

Yeah both kegs will be connected up and left alone. Will just disconnect on the couplers between using incase of a regulator failure or something.D4nny74 wrote:Do you leave beer in the lines until next time you use the font ?, building something similar
