Re: circulating fan

I have mine plugged in so they only come on when the heater is on, and they blow over the heater.

I use a couple of

and a charger from my old beard trimmer :)

Re: 1st brew done

After you bottled, did you put them straight in the fridge or did you condition for a week at room temp?

Cloudy beer might also suggest you sucked up trub from the FV.

Did you bottle straight from the FV or did you rack to a secondary bucket for bottling?

Re: Brewferm Diablo

Do these smaller kits (as in it's a 9 liter one) need a smaller Ferment vessel? the smallest I've got is a 25 and that a whole lot of head space!

Re: Evil dog being just that

How much sugar should I batch prime it with? 23ltr. And do I dissolve the sugar in water and then into bottling barrel? Cheers If memory serves I think I used about 180G, so I'd probably go a fair bit lower than that next time. Maybe 120/130. I dissolve the sugar in water whilst boiling on the hob ...

Re: Evil dog being just that

My evil dog was very cloudy when bottled, but it cleared/settled a treat, was a very good beer, if a little over carb'd

Bottling now....
How did this turn out?

Mine was four weeks in the FV before it got down to 1.009, bottled it last night (having added the hops 2 days prior).

Looked and smelt good, tick tock on the first tasting! [-o<

Re: Kick starting

If the brew is nearing completion you don't really want to introduce Oxygen.

A swirl round with the lid on, or maybe at a push a gentle stir with a sanitized paddle/spoon.

Just a heads up that Lidl will have in stock lOWICZ Fruit Syrups this week (as of today) 99p a bottle, they look ideal for this, there is a Cherry one that looks very interesting! :) BB, The Cherry one is Good, the Raspberry one is much better! :D Stocking up tomorrow for a weekend brew! :D WA My t...

Re: fermentation cupboard

I've not altered the fridge at all. The temp wire and lead for the heater go in the front, they fit thanks to the seal. It's not ideal but a piece of sticky tape holds the door closed. The fridge can be returned to normal duties in less than a minute. In the future, I'll probably be rerouting the wi...

Re: fermentation cupboard

Many people (myself included) use an old larder fridge as a pre-built insulated box to ferment in. Is that not an option due to space? I've recently acquired a larger (double height fridge) that I plan to reuse my STC-1000 and 60W heater in. ETA: the fridge was free - from a local post on https://il...

WM13.

Been into store recently and just checked online and you seem to have stopped doing the milestone kits.

Do you know if this is this permanent or just a seasonal thing?

Re: KIT OF THE YEAR - YOUR NOMINATIONS

close run thing between...

Bulldog - Evil Dog Double IPA
or
Milestone - Shine on - with added cascade hops (both as a tea and dry hopped)/

The Evil dog is a lively (possibly slightly over carb'd) strong brew that is far to easy to drink.

Shine on, great tasting very moreish.

Re: The best kit you ever brewed?

So far....

Milestone IPA - came out quite a bit darker than the normal IPA (bottles were better than the barrel)

Evil Dog Double IPA.
