A 2nd connection for the pump, so you can connect a HLT for sparging, would be a good addition.

Re: The MaltMother™

Evening guys, I've lost count of how many brews I've made using my setup, but recently I made a couple of changes to the MaltMother, so its time for a thread update. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1917/44914252941_e221fbb5d5_c.jpg IMG_20180921_090456 by Ben , on Flickr I've replaced the stainless fa...

Re: Stainless Hot Water Cylinder conversion - ideas

How easy is that bad boy to clean and how do you do it? It's pretty simple - it's bottom draining with a curve to the base, so most of the liquid drains out bar about 100ml, which I use paper towels to soak up. I heat up the water to 60ish degrees and mix in oxiclean. Then recirculate this through ...

Re: Stainless Hot Water Cylinder conversion - ideas

Is the full 50l batch for yourself or do you distribute to friends This batch is mostly for me, as I've run out of beer. Planning 25 litres in a King keg and the rest in bottles. I'm planning to use this build for larger batches really, although 15 litres covers the elements so at least I've got th...

Re: Stainless Hot Water Cylinder conversion - ideas

A little thread update Its been a while, but I've been tinkering with this project again and have used the cylinder for a K-RIMS project (kettle rims, apparently!). Its a two vessel setup. I have made a timber frame, to which I intend to add castors. I have made the hot water cylinder bottom draini...

Re: smash recipes

I've always taken SMaSH to be single malt and single hop variety rather than one hop addition. If you want the challenge of using only one addition, I estimate a 70g "Hop-Burst" addition with 10 minutes to go will give a balance of bittering, flavour and aroma, to around 40 IBUs. Or you could use a...

I don't think the taps are meant to be removed, I didn't know they even came out?

Re: Brew Control Panel Build

Automation will only help with consistency, but you will need to refine your procedures for positive results before you can start repeating consistently.. Dont be deterred just loose your ag cherry before you start designing the last brewery you will need.. Listen to Fil. There’s good advice on off...

Re: The MaltMother™

the latest brew has dropped to 1.006 territory, i’ve had a cheeky taste and it’s on track to be a cracker. i’m planning to bottle all 27 litres of this, as I’ve found I prefer the taste of bottle conditioning to force carbing most of the time. Just got to clean all those bottles now...!

Re: The MaltMother™

looks a smart setup, how did that filter cope with all them hops? Terribly! I mean, I did throw 250g of pellet hops at it, and most filters would struggle with that. I tried to give it a scrape and that helped a tad. I think it might be time to switch to leaf hops... Did you whirlpool? No I d...

Easy Keg mistake!

Hi guys, I'm a right idiot - had an Enville Ale Easy Keg at Christmas, which I planned to re-use in the future. I've dug it out of the garage and found that I have removed both the top bung and the bottom tap, and I cannot find either part. I see you can order replacement top bungs, but has anyone s...
