I got bored this morning so quickly knocked this up in prep for after brew day http://s6.postimg.org/oda6z4iq5/JIMS_ESB.jpg http://s6.postimg.org/rvm6vijm5/esb.jpg You can download the PSD here if you want to modify it for your own brew. https://www.dropbox.com/s/tn7nbm64jsjrr57/JIMS%20ESB.psd?dl=0 ...

I'm in. Got it ordered last night. This should be a good one to enjoy over the festive season.

Re: Understanding my water report
OK, Thanks for the help.
I think I'm going to get my water tested properly (by WallyBrew if I can), use that as a base and test alkalinity for each brew and adjust as needed.

Re: Understanding my water report
Think these should cover me? Or am I going overboard again. I do get carried away when it comes to buying bits for brewing. http://s6.postimg.org/gssre8rt9/Capture.jpg The more I think about the water board readings being averaged over the region (which in this case is huge) as well as time, the mor...

Understanding my water report
Hello After getting my kit up to scratch, fermentation conditions tuned and several brews under my belt I've now turned my attentions to getting my water right. I got in touch with my water supplier and asked for the water report for my area. I was expecting to see all the values that people discuss...

Re: 2" barrel caps without valve?
I ended up using a cap that was pre-drilled for an S30 valve. Two nylon penny washers, a custom seal cut from a sheet of silicone I had and the stainless steel tyre valve later and I had this http://s6.postimage.org/6dzcwqbwt/image.jpg?noCache=1442846136481 http://s6.postimg.org/cc8kt85hp/image.jpg ...

2" barrel caps without valve?
Does anybody know of anywhere I can get hold of 2" caps for the budget pressure barrels that don't have any pressure relief valves (or any other kind of valve e.g. S30) in them? I'm looking for plain caps with no holes, no valves, nothing! I would like to then fit a tyre valve to each which will all...

Re: Adding corny gas post to pressure barrel
I would have thought so but with only one corny of my own I have no way to test the theory.
And sods law dictates that when I get a new post it wont fit and I'll have a shiny new paper weight.

Adding corny gas post to pressure barrel
I'm looking to add a corny gas inlet post & poppet to a standard plastic pressure barrel. I'm taking this route as I already have a gas setup with regulator that I use with my corny. It's only really used to add very low pressure to the barrel to replace the volume of beer drawn off each time. I use...

Re: Using a cheap solar heating pump
I've also just ordered a pump, power supply and speed control so that I can pump the hot wort from the boiler through my counterflow chiller at higher rates. Gravity fed just takes too long. The bazooka does a great job at filtering out the hops but I want to add another filter inline to catch anyth...

Re: Boiler to get into AG?
This all gets a bit addictive doesn't it. Today I picked up a fridge for £10 and I've already ordered an STC 1000, two sockets and a 1ft 60W tube heater. By the weekend I'll have another excuse to get a brew on again to test my new fermentation setup. Oh well.

Make sure you sterilise that oar first. Could be all sorts of nasties on it.
Seaweed hops. Now there's a thought.

Hi Monkeybrew
How did this turn out. Maybe a bit soon I know but on first impressions was it a good result?
I'm planning my next brew and I was thinking of something along these lines myself.
Cheers

Re: Boiler to get into AG?
No worries. Did you go down the temp controller route? That's the one thing I'm very happy that I did. So far I've used the online calculators to work out strike water temp. Set that into the controller and got on with other bits. It keeps the water at the exact temp I need and I've hit perfect mash...
