Re: Brett recommendation for stuck ferment
Update on this. In short, beer has turned into a bit of a beauty. I added the whole sachet of amalyse enzyme back in Nov. Feck all happened. A few weeks ago, I blended this barley wine with 2L of Wee Heavy (10%) just for the hell of it. I'm guessing the enzyme worked on that a bit. Gravity dropped t...

Re: 10L cheap pressure keg recommendation
I use cornys for fermenting beers that I don't need to dry hop like Weizens etc. I love it. So handy. I've heard of people insisting on floating dip tubes or cutting the dip tube so that it's off the yeast. I've never bothered. First pour is a load of yeast, but it clears up after that. Would be per...

Re: 10L cheap pressure keg recommendation
Nice tidy job, but I'm wondering why you didn't just go for a reconditioned 12L cornelius keg, which make great pressure rated FVs for small batches. Comparable price, if you shop around. Add a floating dip tube and it's difficult to beat. I'd no idea these existed    Exactly what I ...

Re: 10L cheap pressure keg recommendation
Quick update. Posts are in. Lots of gas PTFE tape was required to to ensure a tight seal.
Only leak is here, unsurprisingly. So ordered this. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08 ... UTF8&psc=1 Hopefully it'll fit.

Re: Brett recommendation for stuck ferment
dropped 4 points. Will let it ride out till xmas. Xmas my arse. I couldn't resist another gravity reading. No movement in 2 weeks. The Orval yeast dropped it by 4 points and that was it. I went in with 1.8 tsp of Amylase Enzyme: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07SFX3W9R/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_ti...

Re: 10L cheap pressure keg recommendation
Several fails later, including flexible spanners and incompatible wing nuts due to the post thread being NPT, the answer finally hit me at around 2:30am a few mornings ago when I was laying in bed unable to sleep. The answer was staring me in the face the whole time. Use another identical nut! To lo...

Re: Brett recommendation for stuck ferment
We have lift off! Spunding valve gauge went from 0 - 8psi in 2 days. Will take a sample later for a gravity reading and of course a tasting. Bring on the funk!

Re: Brett recommendation for stuck ferment
Hey WA,
Been at 1032 for weeks now. Still no action from the Brett. Spunding valve gauge hasn't budged. Early days, though. Plus, it's sitting out in the brewery. I'll bring it into the house 2mo. If there's no change in a few weeks, I'm going in with the amylase enzyme...

Re: 10L cheap pressure keg recommendation
I mean the newly assembled cap. Shouldn't be any need to clean inside there. Air tight. Bought some Loctite plastic glue. Works on both polys.

Re: 10L cheap pressure keg recommendation
Progress! Lid is sorted. Have to do a pressure test obvs, but It's looking good. Since I never have to open this little unit again, is there any way I can glue it together. More than anything, I feel this will add strength to it. Is there a suitable glue out there? I'm pretty sure its polypropylene ...
