Re: The Tilt
I have owned the tilt for over a year (new design too) and it is a good device. I too suffer from excess yeast/krausen deposits giving incorrect readings but I really only use it for telling me when the fermentation has started and finished. I have recently received an ispindle as I fancy using wifi...

Re: Maxi 110 Cooler Compressor switching on
Hi Kev - currently with the STC1000 set to -2, the compressor is being switched on every half hour or so with the trigger set point being 0C. This at least is much better than using the standard thermostat. It takes 10 mins to drop from -2 to -0.1C then seems to stick there for 20 mins or so then th...

Re: Maxi 110 Cooler Compressor switching on
righto thanks Fil - I'll set it to minus 5C and see how we get on. Like you said I'd rather not have the compressor cycle constantly. It could be I have not set an adequate temp to start with when fitting the STC1000. Now I know how to set up the wiring properly, when I've sussed the temperature sid...

Re: Maxi 110 Cooler Compressor switching on
OK I have now fitted the STC1000 and it is controlling the compressor/fan. I set the stc1000 to minus 0.5 and after a while, the STC1000 nicely turns off the compressor/fan. However I now see what is happening - even though the therm probe is in the ice bath, the 0 degrees water that is being circul...

Re: Maxi 110 Cooler Compressor switching on
OK thanks Fil - I have an stc1000 spare somewhere so looks like i'll be getting the multimeter out to see where I can hook it up. Are there any pics around showing one fitted at all?

Maxi 110 Cooler Compressor switching on
Hi, I have a Maxi 110 cooler that I'm using with my GF conical and have noticed that the compressor is switching on at least twice within 10 minutes. This is the case even if the cooler isn't connected to my conical or anything. I had a look inside the water bath and I'm definitely getting a decent ...

Re: SS Brewmaster bucket
I have 4 Brewbuckets and have found them pretty good, and I would not call then Chinese crap by any means. What is crap is the racking valve which is a diabolical affair. The nut in the bucket has no O ring groove and when the nut is tightened it will squeeze out the O ring. The solution is to use ...

Re: Galaxy Recipes
I don't rate galaxy for bittering - it seems to produce a harshness that I don't like (and takes a while to subside). Again I would suggest using a cleaner hop like magnum for bittering then all galaxy for < 10 mins hop additions. One of my best sesssion beers is 30 ibu of magnum at 60 mins, then on...

Re: Brewometer
unfortunately my code isn't in a releasable state as it is particular to my environment (the gauges for example as I never brew above 6% abv) and integrated with other stuff in my home (db etc) - I did think of refactoring this but not only am I short of time (new job since Xmas) but the code base i...

Re: Hop Aroma
In terms of oxygen exposure - I was thinking the most critical exposure point is when transferring from the FV to Keg/bottle etc. I always flush out my tubing and keg with CO2 prior to any transfer activity.

Re: Brewometer
yeah I took the brewpi subsystem and the addon python brewpi-tilt integration and hacked it around by adding the gauges/monitoring/db storage etc
I'm not a fan of the brewstat stuff personally.
