Re: Carbonating half full kegs
I don't think it matters that much - I don't leave the gas hooked up when carbonating, either. I do either 14l or 19l brewlengths, so the keg headspace varies accordingly. After purging I whack it up to 50-60psi and disconnect. For the 14l brewlength this drops to 14-20psi over the next few days, wh...

Re: co2 portsmouth
Air liquide in salisbury (ALDD) deliver to Botley, but I don't know if their area extends as far as Pompey - a 6.35kg bottle of CO2 was less than £15 delivered The last one lasted me 15 months. Bargain!

Re: Stainless corny quick connects
Firstly, I have no personal experience of these whatsoever. But I seem to recall reading a long thread (maybe through Google) regarding tales of woe on these (leaks etc.). But that may be in the past, and it could be a skewed position (people are less likely to start a thread to say "bought these an...

Re: Bubbles in keg line
I had a similar thing on one beer tap line - traced it to a connection where the pipe was not cut perpendicular, so presumably was creating enough turbulence to trigger foaming.

Re: Man go camping, man need beer!
Our May Bank Holiday camping trip went well, with a nice Equinox ale in house, plus a few bottles: http://i635.photobucket.com/albums/uu75/atrace/IMG_20170429_120804_zpsmvz0uwxf.jpg Our tent is a classic we got off eBay, and we've added some matching accessories 8) http://i635.photobucket.com/albums...

Re: Man go camping, man need beer!
If you like camping and home brew beer - have you signed up for this years Home Brew Festival yet? No I haven't. To be honest, what I've seen from previous Spring Things (and I don't want to come across a dick) it all looks a bit 'low rent'. Having just been on the website it looks a lot more appal...

Re: Anyone Tried This as a Hop Spider/Dry Hopper?
Well, it's had its first use for dry hopping - I'll give it 8/10. Good: Easily held 60g of leaf hops (would comfortably take 100g), sank nicely to the bottom, still just as shiny when it came out. Bad: powdery bits of hop escaped (not much, though) and a bit of an arse to clean under the tap, but bl...

Re: What happens if you overfill a bottle and don't leave a
Great experiment, and a great looking beer. Do you know yet how it compares to a "normal" filled bottle, halfway up the neck?
I'm wondering if there is a point where it starts to drop off, as I tend to fill my bottles quite full (I won't in future)

Re: Gas Out Connections Help
You could remove the adaptors that are fitted and put in something like this (with a little PTFE tape) straight into the regulator body: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005XTZG5C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 That's assuming your regulator has the standard female 1/4" BSP thread s...

Re: Using dried yeast
Forget to use cooled boiled water?
Most dried yeast can just be sprinkled on top of the wort (not stirred in).

Re: Corny poppet valve replacement
I find that these work fine, and the o-rings will be easy to replace when needed: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cornelius-Type-Universal-Poppet-Fit-Ball-Lock-Keg-Post-Homebrew-Beer-Making-HOT-/381533066155?hash=item58d52493ab The springs are actually longer than in the picture, but they've fit into all ...
