Re: Recipe help for a first all grain brew
If you like BrewDog stuff, as has already been mentioned, the DIY Dog PDF is your friend. You can also checkout websites like Brewer's Friend, as users upload and share all sorts of recipes . There are also some open source recipes, like Yeastie Boys Digital IPA , which is now brewed in the UK and c...

Fuller's famously parti-gyle: https://barclayperkins.blogspot.com/201 ... -1968.html http://allaboutbeer.com/article/fullers-london-pride/ The last one mentions marmalade in relation to Pride.

Re: Invert Sugar
Which still leaves me unclear as to whether inverted cane sugar is any better than non-inverted cane sugar. Why do I get the feeling I'm somehow completely missing the point here?! I thought that the main reason that you used it, was to avoid the yeast throwing that classic green apple tang. The fa...

Re: Invert Sugar
From Ron Pattinson's blog - https://barclayperkins.blogspot.com/2009/06/refined-sugar-vs-invert-sugar.html Which entertainingly, has an advert for Becker's Brewing Sugars on it... This is a good one. I've seen it argued by homebrewers that brewing sugars are a waste of money. The line of reasoning g...

Re: Ginger
I made the Ginger Saison* out of Sam Calagione's (of Dogfish Head fame) book - An Enthusiast's Guide to Homebrew Beers . It used 55g of crystallised ginger, which went in 1 minute before flame out. It was quite a few years ago, so I can't remember exactly how ginger it was. I think I cultivated some...

A vigorous boil is an important part of the process. Simmering is something to be avoided. Review this before you commit. It gives six major reasons why a good robust boil is critical for beer, from someone you can really trust. Avoid boil overs by adding hops and keeping the lid off. Just listened...

Re: Food dehydrator
I've got a nine tray Excalibur dehydrator, I've used it to dry hops in the past. I found that you really have to turn it down, as it dries out and crisps the edges quickly, but the centre is still damp. As the fan is also quite close to the hops, once they start drying out, they tend to get blowing ...

Re: Silicone Hose
I hadn't come across Polymax Ltd before, the thinner tubing is cheaper than Silex, but the beefier dairy tubing is even steeper!Maldon John wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 6:31 pmYes Silex or Polymax Ltd are my go-to for bespoke sizes

*bump*
Tubing is pretty much the only major thing left for me to buy, and I just found some money down the back of the sofa.

Re: Mash temp probe position
Checkout this post by PeeBee -> RIMS and HERMS temperature sensor position; hopefully it will answer your question. TL;DR you might want to look into putting the probe in a t-piece, on the return into the mash tun from the HERMS coil.
