Re: Wines at home
I got the email from him, but sadly just after Christmas the forum got hacked. He's trying to bring it back up currently. The Harris Forum/Homewinemaking.co.uk has been closed down now as well as I just found out when I tried to get on there.

Re: Elderflower Sparkling Wine - Using Dried Elderflowers
Don't quote me but I believe some people have 'enhanced' the elderflower by using a preservative free cordial such as Bottle Green Elderflower https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/p ... /251631485 might be worth a shot if your fresh and/or dried are a bit duff.

Re: cherry wine
If it’s still hazy there is a decent chance it will drop more sediment given enough time. I wouldn’t be in such a rush to get it bottled, give it time to drop clear, sort itself out then think about bottling.

Re: Elderflower Champagne and Mould
Did you use a CT/SodMet solution or boiling water to deal with wild yeast?

Re: Slow cookers .....why ?
I use ours for chilli, curry stews, soups and my favourite is jacket spuds. Dry your spuds, rub them in a drop of olive oil and salt them liberally, then wrap tight in tin foil and place in slow cooker ensuring each one touches the bottom. I can fit 5 in mine. Then switch on low for 8 hours. Beautif...

Re: HELP! ive got 31 cucumbers to take wine with tomorrow!
I think I would try oak leaf wine before I tried cucumber. Even the wife looked at me like I had 2 heads when I blurted out cucumber wine in shock.

Re: BM owners (and GF / aio owners) would you go back?
I jumped straight from BIAB to the BM. I do feel slightly guilty that I didn't wait a bit longer as I could have picked up the GF for 1/2 the price. I also don't brew as much as I wish due to my consumption being so low. Would I do it again, probably not a BM, but a GF or other system is more likely.

Re: Hose
Malt Miller sellers some good hosing, it's not cheap but won't collapse under even the hottest conditions. No smell either.

Re: Wine kit clearing
Leave it alone I would. Pop it in a corner somewhere and forget about it. Come back to it in a few months time and see what it's like.
Get started making something else to take your mind off it.

Re: Wine kit clearing
When did you start it, when did you rack it provide some dates. I don't have a great deal of experience with finings as most wines will clear on their own given time, but I wouldn't have thought 2 days would have harmed it, but like I said i'm no expert. I wouldn't rush into adding more finings quit...

Re: Filtering Wine
Give it a dosing of CT,s to help mitigate any oxygen exposure. I had the same concern when I first used my filter but fingers crossed no problems yet.

Considering Get 'Er Brewed does 25kg for £18 +£4.99P&P, asking £60 is way OTT.

Re: Corny kegs vs Crusader
Corny kegs have their advantages, mainly you can pick them up second hand for £40-£50 whereas Crusader you pick up new, but the price is £60-70 from memory so no real price difference their. Cornies generally need pressure to seal properly as the lid sits on the inside and presses upwards to create ...
