Re: brewgas sparkler tap
Agreed, Hamstead Homebrew have something to do with brewgas. They say that they would know if any spares were available, they are bought in complete no spares available. I have also contacted many other homebrew suppliers and they say the same. It's a bit like Wilko's pressure barrels, no spare's av...

Re: Wilko Pressure Barrel Valve.
If your concerned about the swarfe Eric, just take off the small rubber inlet band and give it a quick blast with your S30 canister to clear any debris.

Re: Wilko Pressure Barrel Valve.
Hello Eric, I have bought a couple of Wilko barrels, one of the roll pins pulled out quite easy the other i ended up drilling out and worked fine after. I also got one cheap off a auction site and found with all three that the thread on the tap bottomed out before the rubber washer sealed on the fla...

Re: Is all citric acid the same
As Mashbag's picture of the box just citric acid on the ingredients, also looks identical to any that i have bought from brewing suppliers but much cheaper.
Worth an ask though as it is sold in the cleaning section next to the washing powders.

Is all citric acid the same
Hello, is Wilko citric acid priced at £1.75 for 250g just the same as the more expensive citric acid found in the brewing section. I'm sure someone on here will know if it is all food safe.

Re: PH Meter
Thanks for your advice Eric that's what i find with the strips, difficult to read and never seem to match any of the colours exactly. If i can can get several years with care out of a probe it's worth taking the plunge.
Thanks

Re: PH Meter
Thanks for your reply Eric, yes it would be just for cider once or twice each autumn. I hav'nt actually got one yet that is why i added to this thread to try and find out more about them ( how long the probes lasted ). I use Graham's water treatment calculator for my all grain and they all come out ...

Re: PH Meter
The meter, i look at spending £50 upwards as an investment not a consumable item. At the start of this thread some ones meter packed in after 5 years, i could live with that. I mentioned the Beverage Doctor as it says you can get replacement probe, has anybody got one or had experience with one ?

Re: PH Meter
How long do your PH meters last, i was put off by reading online that the probes only last 12-18 months. It would mainly be for cider in the autumn as the PH papers are a pain to read.
Would anyone recommend the Beverage Doctor PH meter ?

Re: Brewbrite
Hello, i came across this thread and wondered if it might help my bottling process. My usual brewday is to end up with around 16 gallons in the fermenter after using protofloc at the end of the boil. This will stay in there for around 5 day's or until the yeast crust drops. I would then transfer to ...

WorthingtonI am White Shield
I am never sure when brewing Graham Wheelers Worthington White Shield whether to treat the liquor as a pale ale or a bitter on his water treatment calculator, with his version having 7% crystal malt.
What style do some of you treat the liquor as.
