In the absence of a grain mill

Post by Jeltz » Mon Nov 25, 2013 8:38 pm

I picked up some un-milled grain really cheaply the other day and have an offer to borrow a mill from a friend but he's away and I'd like to brew on Wednesday. In order to do so I would need to mill a couple of hundred grams of wheat malt.

How would it be to use a nut chopping attachment for a blender, I use it to grind coffee and it gets to a powder but a few pulses should chop it up OK and it will only be a couple of % of the grain bill.

I used a blender to do all the grain for a 20 litre brew before I got a mill and it turned out great and I got about 80% efficiency. I put all the grain in a bag for the mash.
