How much amber!

Post by Peatbogbrewer » Sun Sep 27, 2015 1:09 pm

Mosher's heather ale recipe calls for 1.5kg of amber malt, i've heard that 500g will be overkill! Any clarification on this matter would be appreciated, i nearly went and brewed this today!

Cheers

I read somewhere, in an esb, upto 20% crystals type malts.. I brewed a beer, but not an esb which that had just about 20% crystal type, including Amber malt. It was to much crystal type.

But having said this I don't know moshers recipes.

Hopfully someone else who has done the recipe will pop by and tell you what they thought of it.

I've used 30% of Crisps Amber malt in an ale before. It was great.

Thomas Fawcett Amber is darker and stronger flavoured - I'd be very careful with it.
Ingredients: Water, Barley, Hops, Yeast, Seaweed, Blood, Sweat, The swim bladder of a sturgeon, My enemies tears, Scenes of mild peril, An otter's handbag and Riboflavin.
