Are you sure it's malt? I used flaked rye from the health food shop and I really like it. I use 20% then add 5% crystal rye and it comes out really nicely. I've also added darker grains with good results.
Evolution didn't end with us growing thumbs.

I'm pretty sure that flaked rye and rye malt are two different things. Some flaked grains are available in grocery stores, but you have to go to a HBS to get malted grains.
