Smoked porter

SG 1.060 FG 1.018

45% Maris Otter
25% Rauchmalt
10% Malted Oats
5% Biscuit malt
5% Brown malt
5% Roasted barley
5% Dehusked Carafa 3

Bittered to 30IBU with magnum @ 60 mins

Mashed at 69c for body, and fermented with WLP005 (I chose a yeast that attenuated low for body). Mash pH 5.6, with more Cl then SO4 to emphasise the malt.

I don't consider it heavily smoked. It's the Weyermann stuff from Malt Miller and BrewUK that I've used, which I think is beech smoked. I do find that the smokiness fades over time, into a sort of coffee taste, both of which work well in the porter.

Yes all it is, is an electric mini oven with a rotisserie, I fitted the basket for the grain, more use to roast grain ATM but no real reason why it couldn't be used as a smoker.

As you can see I only use it for brewing related stuff, don't try with the household oven ;).
