They would go well in a continental lager or alt  they pair well with Hallertau .

It's a German-bred relatively high alpha acid hop used mainly for neutral bitterness, very smooth and transparent, which is especially important for pale lagers. Sure, it's paired a lot with Hallertau aroma hops, but that's simply because that's what the Germans do, in almost all their beers. In other words, there's nothing particular about it that matches it to Hallertau, you can use it for the full boil in any recipe you like. I've had several tasty amber ESB or strong English Ale types with Perle bittering hops and traditional English aroma types.

I've got a lager on the go at the moment bittered with magnum and with about 50g of Perle thrown in 10 minutes from flame out. Time will tell but I have high hopes that the Perle will add something interesting to an otherwise boring lager. :) will keep you posted
Cheers and gone,

Perhaps I should have simply said that I like it matched with Hallertau myself

Oh sorry, I didn't mean that to sound like a put-down. I agree with you 100%. I just wanted to make sure people didn't think it could only be used in the traditional German pairing.

Cheers!
