Tinned Pineapple Aroma

Post by MarkA » Sun Jul 20, 2014 7:51 pm

I've had a few beers recently that have a lovely, sweet aroma of tinned pineapple, and would love to make a blonde ale with the same aroma.

Can anyone recommend which hop, or combination of hops, would be best?

Thanks

I have an IPA just now with a massive amount of mosaic. It pretty much tastes all of pineapple.

Use Columbus or magnum to bitter then mosaic for say 30 and 10 minute additions.

Beautiful stuff.

Thanks octoscott.

I was thinking of a simple recipe, maybe 5kg of pale malt, what sort of quantities would you recommend of those hops for a 23l batch?

Cheers

Add about 250g of wheat or torrified wheat to that for a bit of head retention.

Then the hop additions 20g Magnum/25g Mosaic/25g Mosaic

It'll be lovely i promise you.

I too am going to do some playing around with Mosaic hops. My plan (such as it is) is to make a wheat IPA that is heavily bursted with Mosaic and Citra. I am also going to use a bit of Simcoe since my experience so far with both those hops is that they can be a little much if used by themselves. What I am hoping is that the beer is refreshing with alot of citrus/fruity going on from the hops, I guess we will see what happens. By the way, I'm using a neutral ale yeast so all the action should come from the hops.
Drinking:Saison (in bottles), Belgian Dubbel (in bottles), Oud Bruin (in bottles), Olde Ale (in bottles),
Abbey Triple (in bottles), Munich Helles, Best Bitter (TT Landlord clone), English IPA
Conditioning: Traditional bock bier, CAP
Fermenting: Munich Dunkel
Next up: Bitter (London Pride like), ESB
So many beers to make, so little time (and cold storage space)
