old amarillo
Hi all, made a quite time apa, then dry hopped with 100g amarillo, these are about 2 years old been in freezer. I tasted before dry hopping and it was ok, nothing special, afterwards it is now pretty foul! I think this may fade but not enough

Reading on the American forums I believe Amarillo can be a bit hit and miss, depending on the year. tend to give overpowering grassy notes if you use too much of a bad lot.

Can't be arsed to keep changing this bit, so, drinking some beer and wanting to brew many more!

Re: old amarillo
I have just done an Amarillo pale ale using 100g of leaf late hops (2013 harvest). I was going to dry hop but the hop flavour and aroma was so pronounced after the boil and during fermentation that I decided against it.
Directly after fermentation the beer had a sickly taste and I was worried I had overdone the hops, but 1.5 weeks in the taste has mellowed and although it still has a very pronounced hop taste it is very drinkable. It should improve with age.
Hope yours works out OK
