CO2 Extract

Post by Mr. Dripping » Mon Apr 18, 2016 4:57 pm

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can get a sensible amount of CO2 extract (preferably Columbus) at a sensible price?

TIA 8)

Google suggests it's CO2 extracted hop resin. No fricking idea though!

Barth Haas in Paddock Wood, Kent, have it but only in 500g cans.

http://simplyhops.co.uk/bittering-extra ... t-500.html

Not sure if it keeps once opened?

The can is 500g for £34. It's not clear what AA it is, at 60% AA, it would replace about 4 - 5kg of 7% AA hops. Or does it mean there is a total of 500g of AA?

Funnily enough I just emailed Rob at the Malt Miller to ask if he'd ever considered doing this in home brew quantities. No reply yet.

I had a good look around a while ago, you can get it in the US and NZ but not there.

I just came back from NZ and brought back three 5ml syringes of it. Looks well dodgy in your suitcase :)

Lots of double (or triple) IPA recipes seem to use it for the bittering addition. Both Magic Rock and Beavertown use it. My NZ ones came with a handy instruction page.

Cheers for the replies guys.
I've seen the stuff on Simply Hops, but the pack size is too big really....maybe a group buy??
I don't think the stuff from Rob is what I want....it needs to go in the boil and those are aroma adjustments.

I can get it from the US, but cost is a bit daft tbh

They are just around the corner from me.

Would anyone be interested in a group buy? I might be able to help out? We need to find out about storage and freshness etc.

The products from TNS look interesting...thanks for the link.
I think I will drop them an email later and see if I can get some pack size and price info.
