Re: Has Anyone grown Centennial in the UK?
Not Centennial, but my friend planted a few Chinook in the Spring. They were quite weedy looking rhizomes but did produce a few cones this year, not enough to brew with though. I had a smell of them and although not quite as powerful as the American stuff they were really good.
They're always good quality from Willingham so why not. Better than paying over the odds for American imports!

Can't be arsed to keep changing this bit, so, drinking some beer and wanting to brew many more!

There is no reason why you couldn't grow any hop variety in the UK. Soil conditions, climate, etc., are likely to have an influence, but you should get something at least reasonably comparable.

Hi Hanglow, where in the country are you? Was thinking abut a Mittelfruh or a Hersbruker myself for next year.

I'm in Glasgow, so not exactly prime hop growing territory That said a small amount of fuggles are grown on contract in the clyde valley
I grew the h. mittelfruh in a very large pot this year

Yes I grow them.
Weedy first year. Hand full of cones the second. Next season third year.
It isn't as hardy as the british varieties. Needs a lot of attention. Hoping know the rhizome is more hardy it can take the odd failure to water, or a missed feed.

I am about to start growing hops myself for the first time, I went for cascade, Centennial and Fuggles (maybe should have chosen EKG?) I'd be interested to hear about other peoples experiences and if they have had good crops?

Grew Cascade and Chinook this year
Cascaded seem the strongest from willingham but the Chinook came back from the dead and seem to last the longest
Still the odd yellow leaf on the Chinook now.
