Single Hop IPA's

From experience would you recommend any really tasty hops for some modern single hop IPA's? In the ever expanding world of hop availability.

Any of the C hops are good

Citra, Centennial, Chinook, Cascade, Columbus

I like Amarillo as well

I've not tried any of the really really new stuff though

I'd agree with Bunglebrewsbeer, Galaxy is a cracking hop. I'd also chuck Chinook into the hat, can't beat the grapefruit. Having said that, back in the day, the Mikkeller Simcoe and Nelson Sauvin single hop IPAs were immense.

I've done a Nelson one which was very good and do love Simcoe also on its own. I've only ever really used chinook for bittering and not late on yet.

Thankyou for suggestion, I just made an Amarillo which turned out good, but picked up a single hop IPA of the same name from M&S and realised I can go much more intense.

Will pick up some hops now and plan is to do a big mash, split it into several boils - one for each hop. Will see which of these hops I can get hold of at the local shop.

I know its a bit out there but why not try some English hops. In particular, Bullion, Challenger, Endeavour and Minstrel. They will all stand they're own if used properly. ;)

I assume you are referring to an American Imperial Pale Ale and not the type of ale we once sent to India. If it is the latter I recommend Fuggles they seemed to do the job all those years ago. If you need a recipe there are several in OLD BRITISH BEERS AND HOW TO MAKE THEM by Dr John Harrison and the DURDEN PARK BEER CIRCLE

Thanks for suggestions I just brewed 4 single hop IPA's.
2 favourites and a couple of new ones. Citra, Mozaic, Styrian Goldings (Bobek) and Magnum.
4 x 4L from single mash, fermenting today in demijohns, stove top boils.
50IBU's each.

One hop for an IPA, don't think you'll find better than Mosaic. Has it all going on, it's almost cheating.
