Would this work?

Post by mozza » Thu Jun 01, 2017 11:17 pm

I've heard of people using multiple yeast strains in order to get the flavours of one, and the flocculation of another. My random thought of the day...

What would happen if you pitched a lager strain with an ale yeast? I don't think I'm brave enough to try lol
Cheers and gone,

well depends on the yeast, generally speaking lager and ale yeast tend to ferment happily at different temperatures so your choice of fermentation conditions would impact on which yeast may take a dominant position.

fwiw i have pitched US-05 along side of nottingham with the intention of capturing the less floculant US-05 within a sticky bed of nottingham for a brighter drain into the keg, Tho since i also forgot the kettle finnings with that brew it didnt quite work as expected creating a murky pint best supped from an opaque mug ;)
ist update for months n months..
Fermnting: not a lot..
Conditioning: nowt
Maturing: Challenger smash, and a kit lager
Drinking: dry one minikeg left in the store
Coming Soon Lots planned for the near future nowt for the immediate :(
