Hello Everyone,
I made one of these TC`s to 5 Lts yesterday.
440ml bottle Aldi Polish Raspberry Syrup
1 Ltr Raspberry and Cranberry Juice
1 mug strong Tea
75 gr Demerara Sugar
Top up with Apple juice to 3 inches from top of DJ
1 tsp yeast and yeast nutrient at 21deg
OG at 21deg 1054
The OG has come out higher than expected because there is 46gr of sugar in the bottle of Syrup. I didn`t read this until after I had made the TC! The Blackberry TC I made yesterday had an OG of 1040 which is what they normally come out at with only the 75gr sugar. I`ve used more sugar in previous TC`s but I find it makes it too strong.
Just checked on both TC`s, the foam is touching the top of the DJ! :D

Thankyou for this recipe. Put this on today. I'm an eejit, though, as I forgot to take the gravity reading and I've added yeast........am I too late?

No, you`re not too late.
I have changed this recipe now to produce the most wonderful TC ever invented! (Even though I say so myself)!
For a 20Lt Brew.
3 bottles Polish Raspberry Syrup.
No Sugar.
3 Large Bramley Apples Grated. Add these to 2Lt Apple juice in a pan and simmer for 20 mins.
3 mugs of Tea, 4 T bags each.
Put everything in the FV, Top up with Apple Juice to 20Lt.
@ 22deg put in 3 tsp Yeast and 3 tsp Yeast Nutrient.
SG 1054, FG 1000. ABV 7.4%
Leave it in the FV for 14 days.
Siphon off to another FV, 140gr sugar batch prime. Bottle, 2 wks warm, 2 wks cold, Drink 2 wks later! Even tastier if you can leave it longer! :=P

I have a confession...it was another raspberry are recipe I used BUT I want to try yours. Am I right that you are using about 18 liters of apple juice to top up?

Just bottled my Raspberry and Ginger TC.
Same recipe as above but I added 50gr grated fresh Ginger.
SG 1060 FG 1004.
Lovely taste from the sample jar!
Couple of floaters in the brew, drinking the last 1/2 pint from the FV I thought I was biting on a piece of apple, it was Ginger! Lovely tangy taste, goes well with this TC!

I can taste Pine, Leather, Orange, Coffee, Asparagus, Mint, Freshly mown Grass, Forest Floor,Stale Sweat, Grey stuff from between your toes, etc, etc!
That last sentence was a load of Gilly Goolden Boll@cks which a lot of people `THINK` thay can taste!

great recipe WA, I'll be getting on this over the next couple of days. My only issue is the cost of apple juice (I'm aware i'm being very tight here, but 20 liters isn't cheap, and the tesco 4 liters for 85p offer seems to have ended).

not sure if I should increase the amount of apples, as my local market sells big bags for a pound each....so I may use tap water but a larger amount of fresh grated apples (thank god for my girlfriends heavy duty food processer!)

So I put this on tonight with the Ingredients below. In the interest of other people's potential interest I even took a hygrometer reading and it came out at 1.040.

Will update when ready.

3 bags of grated apples (£1 market offer)
7 x bottles syrup (4 raspberry, 2 pear) (£7)
250g sugar (50p?)
1 pack wine yeast (£1)

Hello MW,
Tesco Apple juice is 16p / Litre near us.
I see that you have left out the Mugs of Tea. Any reason for this? The Tannin in the tea does something to reduce the acidity and sharpness of the brew.(I think).
Keep us posted on your results.

Sheer forgetfulness mate.... I'll add the tea tomorrow, hopefully it won't make a difference. When one of my Demi frees up i'll start to have a think about some of the other flavours I saw in the polish shop today. I'm in Lincolnshire, and we have a huge eastern European population; I hit the supermarket closest to me today, and they had about 10 different flavours of syrups...lots of ideas started up.

Either way this syrup is a massive revelation!

In hommage to this thread and maybe be of interest to some...

I cracked open a couple of champagne bottles filled with a cider 100% pressed apple cider which was racked and underwent a second fermentation with this infamous polish raspberry suryp. It was a little acidic for me but most people loved it - the acidity certainly enhanced the raspberry notes.

Going to think about bottling my batch soon, wondering about priming it with more raspberry syrup...any idea how much I should use for a 40 litre batch?
