TC FERMENTING TIME

hi

i have had 4litres of tc made from tesco value apple juice fermenting for 7 days now and it seems to have stop bubbling. would it have stopped fermenting now? how do i tell? I do have a hydrometer what should the reading be?

Have they realy all stopped? Sometimes I have trouble seeing in cloudy TC.

I assume it's stopped and put it out in the cold to clear around 1.000 to 0.996

Hydrometer is your best bet - couple of quid from eBay or your local homebrew shop. Saves a lot of heartache.

Alternately, if it's definitely not bubbling (air tight fitting on the airlock?) rack it off and stick another on the slurry.

Rack it off directly into your stomach if necessary.

I just transfer mine into 2litre coke or other PET bottles with 2 tsp on sugar - i dont wait for clearing - its TC!, just somat to drink in between main brews...

if its finished bubbling after a week, i rack mine off and dont bother with being too specific - although i spose i should.....

it sounds like its done OK to get that low so i would personally go for it!.

All depends how long it was at 1.004... Don't think it matters though - bottle it and drink it cloudy or let it clear in the cool. It won't hurt you and it'll free up the FV for the next batch.
