Answer right now PLEASE as in the middle of a brew

Post by celt » Sat Apr 19, 2008 6:02 pm

Have bought new yeast as the one in my kit is out of date.
The new yeast says to add 1 heaped teaspoon per gallon which will be 5 gallon.
However, I looked at the old yeast with the kit and that equals about 9 heaped teaspoons ?
I have added 5 as per new yeast instructions.
Shall I stick with that ?
Thanks in advance !

More info needed!

Are we talking wine here? And what type and make of yeast is it?

I would guess you should follow the instructions on the yeast (as you have done). A bit extra won't hurt, though.

Thanks a lot Jim, Its been an hour since adding the yeast so methinks maybe better leave it.
