Rhubarb wine changing colour

Post by kenny850 » Sat Jul 12, 2008 8:14 am

Have got 4 gallons of the above sitting in demijohns at different stages- starts off pink, goes to cloudy white and back to pink again, one has remained cloudy white but smells fine, the one that has had its final rack and put in the garage to mature has gone from rose to white wine colour over a few weeks. Is this normal? if it is then what causes it. This is my first attempt at "country wine" and am somewhat bemused

Yes it is quite normal, most rhubarb wines will finish white, the colour is from the skin and often drops out after adding campden tablets. Nothing to worry about :)
