Well in so far as it makes hard crack, but you don't add bicarb to peanut brittle do you? If so then I might try that variant.

We have always added bicarb to peanut brittle and any decent peanut brittle you get in the U.S. is the same. You spread it out thinner in the tray though, about 1 peanut thick.
