Chicken seems to go with everything...

Red wine, white wine, sherry, beer and cider... Other meats however do not! I cooked cheicken with red wine tonight and it was delightful giving the meat that gamey taste made famous by Coq au Vin. (I've had the real thing in a paysanne restaurant in Paris and it's nothing like the dish that is often served in the UK)

I was just thinking it a trifle odd as you would not typically choose to drink many of these drinks as an compliment to a chicken meal...

well, i'd drink any of them with chicken

personally the only time i make a deliberate choice about the booze with dinner is if i'm eating steak (rump or rib eye) when i'll drink a good hearty red wine. The rest of the time i'm not too fussed

I prefer red wine, so I don't tend to worry about what I'm eating with it. My pet hate is rosé; can't stand it!
