Real ale is not widely available in the US but a local organization puts on a very nice beer event every spring just outside Boston. My tickets are ordered!

Had a wonderfull afternoon at the ale fest yesterday. Here were a few of my favorites:

The Ossian was a very pretty beer with a big white, fluffy head. It had a great soft, malty body. Kelburn's Misty Law had a bit of sulphur but a lovely malt flavor and nice hop finish. Welsh Pale Ale from Breconshire was light in color but had a nicely balanced malt & hop flavor. Maybe I am just a bit prejudiced towards one of my favorite brewpubs and maybe it is because the beer had a much shorter trip to the festival but for the second year in a row my favorite of all was the Special Bitter from Portland, Maine USA. It's made with good UK malt and has perhaps a tad more hop character than the typical UK ale. It is also a Ringwood yeast beer and I do enjoy the touch of diacetyl in the brew.
