bigdave's Big IPA (I don't know the actual name he gave it) containing Maris Otter, Crystal Malt, Oats, Amarillo, Summit, and Chico. 7.6% alcohol.

100% true-to-style American Imperial IPA, very well-crafted and tasty. Excellent. Full review follows:

bigdave's Rakau Single Malt and Single Hop, containing only Maris Otter, Rakau, Chico.

Lacked carbonation, but was nonetheless mesmerizingly complex. This is a most unusual hop. He predicted it might be infected. Not so, at all. Delicious.

Really pleased you enjoyed them. The Rakau Smash was probably flat as it was decanted from a pressure barrel (a bit of an afterthought when putting the post together lol).

Next up will be a sparkling ale or a lager.

Stomach's Brewferm Grsnd Cru

Another quality Belgian kit brew from stomach. It came in a 500ml bottle, which is always a good start for an 8.5% brew .

I popped it in the fridge for 30mins before drinking it so that it was slightly chilled.

Now people say that some dark beers taste like Christmas pudding in a glass, and to me, this Grand Cru was like the best sherry triffle in a glass!

Really fruity like glace' cherries with warming sherry flavours too. The head was nice and lacey and stayed until the last drop.

This beer has inspired me to brew another kit Belgian brew, so I've picked up the Diabolo and a jar of golden syrup.

sunny_jimbob's Eddington Stout

Well on Saturday I took part in the Morley Homebrew Bottle Swap viewtopic.php?f=16&t=50129&start=75

This morning when I got in from work I tried sunny_jimbob's Eddington Stout
This is based on a Guinness Clone.



The bottle opened with a nice hiss, and was carbonated very well. Not to fizzy and not to flat.
The aroma gave a nice burnt coffee type smell, with a hint of cascade, which I only got when there was about a quarter of a pint left.

On tasting, this was a dry stout with a massive roast barley hit, and coffee taste.
There was very little sediment left over in the bottle, and the colour was a dark black, just how stouts should be.
Overhall I was impressed with this stout, and at 4.9% its a very nice abv.
I could only manage to drink a couple of these, as its very heavy on flavour.

Uncle_Joshua's "Austerity Bites"

Classic Ducky label, with the recipe attached to the neck of the bottle - nice idea!



Good hiss on opening, and pours a lovely gold colour with good carbonation and a small, short lived head.

A fruity aroma but not a lot of hop coming through. Looking at the recipe, it's a single addition at 60, so that's probably why.

Slightly medicinal twang on the nose is quickly overcome by a gently balanced malt backbone which is then augmented by a subtle fruitiness.

Surprisingly long and thirst quenching aftertaste sees citrussy hints refresh the palate nicely, but with such a mild hop presence I'm amazed by how long and refreshing this aftertaste is!

An interesting drop, and one that grows on you as the aftertase goes on and on! Quite unlike anything I've had before!

Uncle_Joshua's 'Austerity Bites'

Bottle opened with nice hiss and head quickly appeared but went again fairly quickly. A lower abv beer at 3.2% you would almost expect this to be a bit stronger abv wise but this works in its favour - you could easily sup this all day. Taste wise I did expect something a bit fruitier - the nose leads you to believe you are about to be smacked in the face with flavour but it is a very subtle tasting beer - at times I was almost reminded of the light aftertaste sometimes got from scrumpy. This is no bad thing. Definatley a grower this one!

Uncle Joshua's Seymour Citra Gold

Wow. Now we are talking! Good hiss on opening and good head retention right to the finishing of the glass! Nice golden beer - I don't usually like citra but I think you've changed my mind with this beer. I was trying to put my finger on what else I was getting a hint of and the recipe gave it away - orange peel! Really lifts it. Favourite of the two I've tried of yours here Mick. Would be interested in giving this one a go myself!

Uncle Joshua's Varsity Bitter

bottle opened with a nice fizz, poured well with a nice head to start with, but that didn't last, although it was nicely carbonated.
Not much on the nose but a pleasant earthy taste & refreshing aftertaste.

A clear golden/amber, good English Bitter. I'd be happy to drink that again

As stated above, including the recipe was a nice touch

sunnyjimbob's Bose Einstein Condensate:

a goood 'pfsss' on opening, followed by a very good head on pouring, which stayed lacy right to the bottom of the glass.
Good clear copper ale, slight floral nose and a very good bitter flavour with a hint of warmth - just as it said on the label.
well carbonated, not too much.
I'd be very happy to pay premium ale prices for this in The Sparrow Bier Cafe in Bradford.

Chilled this over night in the fridge and took it fishing with me, I opened this within 45 mins of setting up.
Cap removed and a nice hiss given off. A little over corbanated, but this was a good thing as it kept the head all the way down the glass.
Pouring the bottle in to the glass, I could get a citrus aroma.

The bottles poured out a nice golden amber colour, however still a bit couldy and a little bit of sediment transferred from the bottle to the glass.
I enjoyed this brew because of the fruity flavours and suttle citus flavour.

After speaking to Mick, he told me to leave this brew in the fridge for a week, but to be honest I couldn't wait to try it.
I gave it a couple of days in the fridge and decided to take it fishing with me.

On opening the bottle, it gave a good pssssttt. The carbonation was spot on for this type of ale. Poured out nice and smooth.
The heat retention was superb, well done Mick.

The colour of the drink was a nice golden paleish colour, slightly darker than a blonde, but I liked it.
On tasting it, I noticed a big grapefruit hit, and it was not over powering like you get one some Citra hop brews. It has a good body to it and a crisp fresh taste.
A cracking little session ale that I would not get bored of.

For me, this has been the best bottle ive had from the bottle swap, and a credit to Mick.
Im even tempted to give it ago myself, and I can seen as the recipe was attached to the bottle.

Drumhead Brewery Centennial IPA

Opened with a nice hiss and a small head. A nice light looking IPA. It has a good nose and tastes just a Centennial IPA should.
Very moreish. Good looking label too.

*edit* Just had the last mouthful...This is a beer I'd be proud to have brewed myself.

Slappers Arms - Slappers Bitter

On opening the bottle there was the classic hiss, like the rest of the bottles that Mick as made.
Its a low abv bitter, with a copperish tint in colour.
Brewed with Fuggles and Styrian Golding which always make a fantastic pint. This one had an earthy taste, and a slightly spicey taste to it and not too over powering.

To be honest its not a pint I would sup a lot of.
