Thomas Fawcett Optic pale malt

Post by Wilbur » Thu Apr 19, 2007 12:44 am

I ordered a bag of Thomas Fawcett Optic malt, I'm down to my last 270kg of MO and wanted to try something different. I went with the optic barley because Fullers uses it in their ESB which is on my short list of brews. Any of you have any experience with it?

Timely post was wondering if my next 25 kgs should be Golden Promise, Optic or the tried and true M Otter.
Of course I still have 25 kgs of MO to go thru so I have time to ponder!

What part of Iowa do you live in? I'm in the Waterloo area.

Small world - Des Moines. Was just up in the Dike/Cedar Falls area last weekend!

It was curious that I went around the Wolf brewery in Norfolk (Norfolk's second biggest after Woodfordes) a few weeks back and Wolff said he doesn't use MO because he doesn't like it and it doesn't work well for him.

Optic seems to be becoming popular with the commercial's these days.

For me that's about 5 years worth.

270kg would indeed keep me brewing for several years, funny how much power a little (.) has :D Typos like that have ruined companies :D

For the record I have 2.7 kg of Maris Otter left, I'd edit the original post but that would ruin your fun :D
