Paddy's Christmas Brew Competition

Post by greenxpaddy » Tue Oct 09, 2012 10:13 pm

I love Christmas....and I love dark malty beers. If I could brew milds all year I would.

SO

I thought why not ask everyone to send me a bottle of their Christmas brew and in reward I could offer a prize?

SO

If anyone wants to send me a bottle of their Christmas tipple. I will give the brew that I think is the best Christmassy beer a £50 gift voucher to The Malt Miller. Now that is a good Christmas gift.

Send me a PM for my address

All I ask is the brew is dark, malty and Christmassy.

All entries must come with codename different to your jimsbeerkit ID so I can be unbiased. When I pick my favorite it will be by codename so the winner can reveal themselves. 275ml or 330ml bottles welcomed to save on postage.

I am not a beer judge but I do like dark beers so I think I can validly choose one. At least you could win £50.

So PM Me.

Wifey says I'm mad to drink beer from anonymous sources so I best ask that you include a sealed envelope with your name and address, jims nickname and proof of address. This will be checked by her when we get the samples. I don't want to know who sent what so I can truly taste blind.

If Barney is interested he could also taste test with me but I have a feeling he will want to send a beer :)

I'll post up my winner on New Years Day.

Can't wait to try all these!

I thought so. Win win all round. I get to try lots of different crafted ale and all of you have the chance to a Christmas bonus.

Ha Ha ,

What a great Idea Paddy and very generous I might add.

Of course I will not enter mine If you need help with the judging as more than likely it will wipe the floor with all the other brews, :^o

Or will not even be fit for wiping the floor.

one or the other.

I've just been sent a link to this thread from another xmas beer thread. Is there a deadline for sending the beers? Is it ok to send bottles in the post?

I'm assuming you want at least 25 bottles to make it worth while greenxpaddy? How's the stockpile looking so far?

Everyone is brewing and conditioning I think. I have a number of declared entries but not received yet. You can enter right up to Xmas. The winner will be announced on Jan 1 2013

I will run the competition regardless of the number of entries. So if you think you may be the only one entering you have a higher chance of winning!

If you are sending a bottle in the post, it is important not to declare it or most carriers will not accept the consignment. Bottles of liquid are a massive headache for them.

Make sure the bottle is wrapped in a strong watertight plastic bag so if it does break in transit it does not damage other parcels. Use plenty of bubble wrap and polystyrene beads so if it gets used as a football in depot it has a chance of surviving the process.

I look forward to sampling your entry
