In my last three brews I've tried two of the pure hop aroma oils available from the Malt Miller.
My kegs are normally dry hopped with 25-30g of hop cones in about 22 litres of beer. So this was an interesting experiment.
The oils were used at the recommended dosage. The oils used were Citra and Cascade.
Has anyone else tried them? My taste buds tell me they aren't as good as dry hopping. The oils add a strange, almost off taste, to the beer. Sort of like the beer's been left overnight in a glass in the 'fridge. And the aroma isn't as fresh and hoppy as I was hoping for.
Perhaps it's just me and my methods. But perhaps it isn't.
What do others think?

Agree with you.
Without patience, life becomes difficult and the sooner it's finished, the better.
Re: Pure hop aroma oils-opinions?
I was not impressed with my first and last use of the goldings oil, the remainder of my bottle was passed on to another member of one of the brewing forums who was keen to try these oils and I never did see any response from them. whether they just could not be arsed to give any response or the had the same result as me I do not know .
I buy my grain & hops from here http://www.homebrewkent.co.uk/

Re: Pure hop aroma oils-opinions?
Quite forgotten I'd started that thread back in November last year!
Seems like some people get results they are pleased with. Which is good.
My experience is that the Cascade is better than the Citra, but neither work as well for me as dry hopping with cones in the keg.
I won't be using them again. If anyone wants to take them from me for just the cost of the postage please let me know.

I have used the Cascade, Citra and Nelson.
I love them all, For me, much better than dry hopping.
Like so much here, Some love it, some don't.

I've used the Citra and EKG and love them both. I find them much better than dry hopping.
