First Time Porter - Conditioning?

Post by wizz69 » Sat Sep 16, 2017 11:52 am

Hey

It is my first time brewing an all grain porter and was wondering if I had to cold condition after fermention?

Should I dispense to a separate bucket and chill to around 10 degress or so for some time or can I just go straight to bottle?

There's no reason to put your porter into a separate bucket. Porter is not usually cold conditioned.
I'm just here for the beer.

Thanks for the tip. I'll brew a small batch and ferment and bottle as usual.

About the only reason to transfer most beers to secondary is if they are really strong and need to age or if you plan to add some kind of fruit or other stuff. Some brewers also like to go to secondary if they plan to dry hop.

that is good, because I have no means to cold crash and was about to build "Son Of Fermenter", will save a bit of time.
