The perfect reason for a blow off tube

Post by guypettigrew » Mon Feb 12, 2018 11:24 am

Yesterday's brew was a dark bitter. Malts were M.O. pale, Vienna, crystal, chocolate and black. Hops were Goldings and Fuggles. 25 litres at OG 1.058. Yeast was fourth generation White Labs 007, pitched at about 3.30pm.

This was the sight which greeted me earlier today. It would have been a real mess without a blow off tube!

Definitely not! The bucket was about a third full of water, so there isn't much beer in it. It's now been cleaned out and fresh water put in. It'll probably get mucky again!
