Next Meeting - THURSDAY 16th December

More details in my latest post
Hi

I haven't posted on this forum before but have found it very useful so far.

I would like to start a new Brewing Club in the Towcester and Northants area and I am gauging interest to see if it would be worth starting.

The 1st meeting would probably be either Tuesday 27th or Wednesday 28th July at The George Pub in Tiffield and start at around 19:30.

I am lead to believe that there used to be a club in this area some time ago so hopefully we could resurect something again.

Cheers Neil

A couple of people have expressed an interest so far on thehomebrewforum so we may have a couple more than just myself and Steve (he's me brew partner so has no option  ).

I will pop down to the George on Sunday to run it past the Landlord (TBH its just another excuse for a quick pint on Sunday)

Just got back from The George and had a chat with the landlord.
He said he is more than happy to have the club meet there, he is also interested in the brewing of beer so may even join even if it's just to learn "how".
Every other Wednesday they have an open mic night and every Wednesday is Curry night, this Wednesday is not an open mic night so it will be quiet enough to hold a meet up.

8pm Wednesday it is then, hopefully we might see a couple of people there

English, live over there, work over here (sometimes) - it's complex!

I do all my brewing over in France though so it'll be good to chew the fat with English Brewers.

A chat in the pub over a few beers - excellent!

Really good to meet up - look forward to getting together again soon.

It was a good meet up I know I learnt a couple of things.

Probably try and do another meet up in a couple of weeks as holidays are looming up.

Belle, I bought a couple of bottles of the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale from Tescos if it's any good I may even try and propagate the yeast 8)

Ahh.. Not sure SNPA has anything you could culture on .. I'm pretty sure it's filtered... but still, a classic example of an American pale with great hop character. If you're having a crack at a light pale ale then the US-05 is the very same they use.

Next step, Orval... once you 'brett' there's no turning back!

I took a mental note to ping you a link to 'Brew like a monk'. Highly recommended reading and the source of my inspiration for making a warm cabinet for bottle conditioning during the spring/autumn/winter.

Hello mate

On the SNPA bottle label the following is written

"Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is a completely natural ale. There are no additives , only the finest malted barley, whole hops, brewers yeast and crystal clear water. The fine layer of yeast in each bottle is a result of the traditional bottle conditioning process that produces carbonation naturally"
I'm not ready to propogate yet anyway but if they only use US-05 then there may be no need also what kind of yeast is Orval wouldn't that make a different beer to I am used to.

Next step I am looking at is the fridge fermentor.
