Well done Critch,
I have just got back and am having my honey beer as a yardstick versus the beers I have just tried to see if it weighs up in any way.
Anyhows, we didn't bump into each other but I was drinking yours just in case we did so I could give you some tasting info...You see I say 'info' not 'notes', as I am not qulaified or able to judge your beer!
Anyhow here are the beers I tried and I list them in order of preference ( so you aint doing too bad mate)
Liverpool Organic Shipwreck IPA 6.5% - what a great pint. Lovely balance, so drinkable. YOu will get shipwrecked on it though. Shame its so bloody strong
Liverpool Organic Liverpool Stout 4.3% - I really loved that. Well you know I like my dark ones. That was a real twist of blackberry in there. Not expecting that! But didn't muscle in too much on the darkness. Really very good indeed.
Fernandes, Challenger 4.1% - Nice and smooth and mainstream. No aroma though.
Purple Moose, Dark Side of the Moose 4.6% - Nice enough but the hop flavours were not that complimentary to a dark malty backdrop
Amber Ales, Chocolate Orange Stout 4.0% - Wasn't really getting orange , more perfumey floral and I didn't like the mix
Looking forward to getting back and having a right good session!
Camra National Winter Ales Festival
Re: Camra National Winter Ales Festival
I've been there for the last 8 days and am now home for the first time since Wednesday - setup, all sessions and then for some of the takedown today. You probably wouldn't have noticed me if you didn't know where I was though, round the back of bar 1 as part of the cellar team running that bar.
So glad to here that people liked it, it is good when everyone is enjoying themselves. There is one correction to what Critch said though. Next year (2014) the Derby winter beer festival becomes the National Winter Ales Festival. There will be a beer festival at about this time of year in Manchester brought to you by pretty much the same team as this years event at the velodrome instead. I have been sort of asked if I want to join the working party doing the organisation for it.

Very well done critch on the RIS. I tried it at the Waterloo Festival and it was one of the best beers on the night. I went to your brewery tour this month and I was gutted it wasnt on. BTW enjoyed the brewery tour. It was a well executed p*ss up in a brewery.
Re: Camra National Winter Ales Festival
