Wishbone Brewery Homebrew Competition
Re: Wishbone Brewery Homebrew Competition
27th would be best for me.
I'm away 13th and back 20th.....but the 20th would be tight for me.
Whatever you decide, I will still do the pin and drop it beforehand

Either as it stands, and I'd much rather brew a beer for a 7% IPA category, as you're saying, than have to stick to UK or US hops.

Haha, I'm just bitter that I recently followed a Lagunitas 'recipe' and ended up with 20L of a very pleasant, but distinctly English tasting IPA, full of US hops that would not fit into any category!pdtnc wrote:Not up for a challenge?MTW wrote:and I'd much rather brew a beer for a 7% IPA category, as you're saying, than have to stick to UK or US hops.
I'm happy whatever, really. Will brew something to fit (hopefully)!

You'd be surprised what you can do with some of the less than hip American hops when blended with about 30-40% of a very Hip Hop!

Re: Wishbone Brewery Homebrew Competition
So in the absense of many more comments and a couple of email from NCB people... Saturday 20th August 2016.
I realise oneof you said that it may be tight for you, but at least its away from the Bank Holiday that people may struggle with.

Do you have a list of people who are providing beer for your bar?

What are you going to brew Armchair and what are you going to put on pdtnc?
Would be good to have a bit of variety on the bar.
I quite fancy doing an APA or an English pale ale with a lesser known/used hop.

Re: Wishbone Brewery Homebrew Competition
No stronger than 6%, preferably something starting in the easy drinking range, and a range of colours...
If the brewer can fill a 9g Firkin that would be handy vs a Bag-in-Box, I think we had 9 handpulls (Boxes) and a keg when we did this at Saltaire whereas we need to fill 4 handpulls on the Wishbone bar.
I've just had a confirmation from Crisp Malt who are happy to come along and do a presentation / chat, unsure if Rob from Lallemand yeast can confirm so if not I will maybe try work on someone else to throw into the mix.

I will do a pale beer around 5 to 5.5% ABV......if that's okay??pdtnc wrote:No stronger than 6%, preferably something starting in the easy drinking range, and a range of colours...

Re: Wishbone Brewery Homebrew Competition
Sounding great. Not sure me getting a pin over on the train on the day would be an easy plan, otherwise would be happy to do one.
Do we just bring 3 (train-cloudy) bottles on the day for the comp?

Re: Wishbone Brewery Homebrew Competition
I can only process 30 litres max at the moment, so I'm going to have to stick to the 20 litre box.
I use the Jigsaw ones......do you want me to bring the fitting to connect the tap to the beer line pdtnc??
