I decided to go all American tonight and make a really hoppy IPA. Nice simple recipe:

Pale Malt: 4.4 kg
Munich Malt: 0.23 kg
Crystal: 0.55 kg

Perle: 50g - 90 mins
Cascade: 28g - 60 mins
Cascade: 28g - 10 mins
Cascade: 28g - 5 mins
Cascade: 28g - 0 mins

o.g. 1.074, est. IBU: 74

The hops drank most of my beer leaving only about 12 litres to go into the fermenting bucket with some Wyeast 1056.

During the brew I drank a Great Divide Titan IPA (among others :) ) - which is pretty much what I hope this will taste like.

Hop shortage? What hop shortage?

Looking good Barry 8)

I've still got around a quarter a kilo of Cascade left in my freezer...

Dang. I wish I could drop that kind of hoppage on a brew  . I've got one or two APAs in my future before I have to buy some of the 64 million dollar Cascades.

Great divide Titan is a cracking IPA. it's up there with Goose Island and SN celebration.

Your recipe is not a million miles away from an extract recipe I've put together in beersmith for the weekend:

21L
1.50 kg Amber Dry Extract
1.50 kg Light Dry Extract
0.450 kg Caramel/Crystal Malt
45.00 gm Cascade [6.50 %] (60 min)
45.00 gm Cascade [6.50 %] (30 min)
30.00 gm Cascade [6.50 %] (5 min)

S-04

Beersmith reckons:
OG 1.053
FG: 1.014
IBU 58.9

You are on the way to destruction.
You have no chance to survive, make your time.

(Sounds yum, by the way)

Mmm, just back from holiday and this one's ready for sampling. It tastes great - definitely pretty close to the Titan IPA, though I need to get a couple more bottles just to be sure, I think. :D

Naaa, your hops belong to me, actually ;) over 1kg in the last two 23L brews IBU's off the scale. :)

Yours looks a nice brew, assertive or what! :D

Yeah, it's a kind of hop flavoured liquid with some underlying malt hints - and a pretty knockout alcohol content - just under 8% by my reckoning
