I went to the Charlbury Beer Festival yesterday and tried Jaipur amongst others so couldn't resist a quick preview of my brew to compare. I took this sample from the 'keg' at 12c as opposed to the 'bottle keg' that's at 3c and treated with polyclar.

It's clearing nicely so another week or so and I'll set 8psi and wait for it to carbonate. So how does it compare with the Thornbridge offering...... well I'm really pleased as it's definitely stands up well. I didn't set out to exactly replicate Jiapur, the ABV is lower for one but it has the same citrus flavours and malty sweetness and I reckon anyone who knows Jaipur would recognise it on the first taste.

I'm really happy with this one, perhaps the best beer I've brewed to date 8)

I'm nearly at the end of the keg  but have 34 bottles left :D This was real love hate love beer.

Out of the fermenter it was brilliant and as I said promised to be one of the best, then the disappointment when starting the keg when I wondered where all the promise had evaporated to, now it's almost up it's on top form again... funny stuff beer

I've just had a pint from the bottle and my faith has been further restored..... it's great. My garage-carport/brewery has a flat roof and work starts mid next week converting to an ridged version so Monday I'm brewing this again while I have a chance. Definitely worth brewing

Oh, and I'll also be using Polyclar again as I reckon it helps speed up chill proofing.

Rob, the keg version kept improving and I wish I'd matured it for longer before sampling. You know how it is one sample leads to another.......
and before you know it the keg is gone.

I'll come round with a couple of bottles next week

I showed her it for the first time when she helped me bottle this brew, much easier with two especially as you really need to cap carbonated beer as soon as the bottle is filled and purged.

It cost £58 but thankfully she only commented on how good it was and didn't ask the price :D

It's nicely engineered and made, as you'd expect from Blichmann and is lovely to use and easy to clean. It is well overpriced though when you consider the parts used. I've done 3 lots of bottling with it now and have long forgotten the cost and don't regret the purchase.
