Recipe Generated with BrewMate

I started this brew quite early this morning, and had the mash on at 06:55.

I didn't quite have enough Pale Crystal, so made up the slight difference with a dash of Caramalt but apart from that, the brew has gone to plan. I didn't quite collect the 20L that I was aiming for, but wasn't far short and I think that this was down to not having a good enough siphon effect from my pick up tube as the last few hundred ml of wort was sat at the bottom of my boiler.

I pitched the reydrated Gervin yeast after lunch, and it's now sat in my Brewfridge at 18-19C.

Hope everyone else's brews are going ok.

Cheers

Like the look of that MB. How long do you leave the brew to settle after you have chilled it down? A little longer would allow the IM to drop it a little clearer, or switch to Protafloc.

Sorry I missed this one. My brewery's undergoing refurbishments. But I'm going make it my 'comeback' ale. Some fine brewing photos here to tide me over.

Made mine today, 25ltrs.

The only problem I had was the Challenger hops.
My inventory said I had 134g, I needed 44g.

In reality, I had only 34g!

The closest I had was Northdown so I've used them instead to the same ibu's.

Hopefully it'll turn out ok :?

Other than that I hit all the targets smack on!

Oh yea, just remembered!
I didn't have enough torrified wheat either!

Missed that completely, so topped it up with flaked barley!

I have to leave the brew for quite a while to settle before transferring it to the FV because my IC isn't super efficient and with this brew I was in no hurry, so it probably sat for 90 mins.

Not really sure why I decided to use Irish Moss for this brew, probably because it was the first little pot that came to hand when I was sorting out all my ingredients!

Do you get better results with Protofloc over Irish Moss?

Cheers

I switched to Protofloc for my last 2 brews. I find it drops faster in the pot after the boil than irish moss. I'm keeping what I have left of the moss as a backup.

Just checked the gravity of my brew on day 5, as it looks like it has slowed down.

Somewhere between 1.012 - 1.014.

I've upped my temperature from 18C to 20C, and will leave it another 5 days before checking again.

Cheers

Yes I do, however there is a caveat, I prefer the granules, sometimes it comes in tablet form and you have to make much more of a guess as to how much to use. If you want to try it get them from the Home Brew Shop in Aldershot

Took a peak today and looks like it is done - need to check with hydrometer though. Anyone adding any dry hops?
