Hi all
Its been a while since I posted a brew day, as I have been trying to work out the source of my recent two failures before U get all cocky and post on here again.. but I think that I have found it with thanks to some help from fellow members on here, and now I have an cooler place to ferment my beer after having some rank off flavours appear in AG's 4 and 5
Yesterday while "working from home" I cranked up a Hyde's Dark Mild clone from GW's book BYOBRA
Mainly because my father in law is a big fan of mild, and also because I fancied trying something a bit different, to go alongside the Brakspeer Bitter I have just brewed and the Pendle witch clone I am planning next... got to get a lot of beers on before child number 2 arrives in 4 weeks - I am sure a lot of people will be round to "wet the babies head" and knowing I brew my own will not turn up with any of their own!!
Hydes Dark Mild
23 lite batch OG 1034 ABV 3.3% 21 EBU
PALE MALT 3000 gms
CRYSTAL MALT 350 gms
CHOC MALT 175 gms
HOPS 90 minute boil
FUGGLES 35gms
Add 7 gms FUGGLES post boil.
Windsor yeast.
Started at 8:00 am All went well until I broke my thermometer half way through warming up the water in the HLT and I had to run out to the HBS to get a new one to carry on!!
Apart from that a "textbook" brewday and it is now bubbling away in my new cooler fermenting place in the downstaris lav (don't waorry its under an airlock and well away from the WC!!!)
Will do pics next time.. if all goes to plan!
