Nice one, snap indeed. Sadly i am going to have to fall back to dryed munich yeast as my past sell by date WLP300 is deid. C'est la vie. Hope you have a good brewday.

Dirt. My wlp300 was only about a month past it's tube's BBE. Seemed to have fermented out the 1L DME starter. I'll keep my finger's crossed. I do have a pack of WB-06 in the freezer just in case!

Well it's all tucked up in the spare room. All went according to the plan/recipe so well happy!

HLT coming up to temp

Grist + 1tsp gypsum

pH looks ok (ish)

Mash temp bang on. only lost a degree over the hour!

wlp300 starter fermented out. The tube was BBE 27th of Jan but seems to have rermented out ok!


My VERY basic fly sparge set up. Geems to be getting me in the mid 90%'s though!

Somewhere in there is my Hertsbrucker!

And that's just a s*%t load of fuggles!

I had 10g of Hertsbrucker left so decided to bung them in at 15 mins!

Clear as a bell coming out of the MT

I didn't take any pics of the boil as I was trying to tidy the garage.


Put some cool wort into the starter to try and wake the beasties up

1.051 @ 20deg to give me 5.0%ABV and 16IBU. BeerAlchemy, what would I do without you!

The irish moss seems to have worked better today. I usually sling it in dry with 15 mins to go but went for 20mins as I have had less than excellent results with it. I forgot to order more protofloc with Paul the other day but will definitely be going back to it next order!

Aerated and yeast pitched. 20L (1L of which is DME starter!)



All in all a wicked brewday and all finished before 13:30hrs Now to watch England thrash the Scotts!
