Second brew will be Hawkshead Brodie's Prime. I've been meaning to get this on for ages. I owe Jubby a bottle as he was kind enough to send me a bottle of his version back in February so it's a bit behind schedule but better late than never eh! :D :D

More to follow!

looks tasty.

are the rolled oats the same as the porridge oats from the supermarket?
and what are they imparting - just some flavour I would imagine?

Well boil is on for Schnieder wiesse, and Brodie's is mashing. Just realised I'm out of H Hersbrucker so it'll be a mix of Mittlefruh and saaz for the weisse! oh well :D :D :D

Cheers chaps. Yeah it was a good brew day! It was interspersed with some monumental titting about on my behalf but I think the end results will be very good!

This is what they looked like this AM. Schnieder Wieeseish is going off like a rocket again with the WLP300. I'm going to have to set up a blow off tube. The yeast was slurry from the bottom of a weisse base beer I'm turning into a weisse kriek for the Mrs so was very fresh. This turned out at 25L @ 1.045 so a little off the 23L @ 1.051 I was aiming for but thats because I forgot to turn the boiler up after a near boil over at the beginning of the boil!

The Brodie's Prime however was 24L @ 1.054 instead of 23L @ 1.053. That can be attributed to my efficiency being 87% instead of the expected 80%! :D :D :D This was pitched with
5 hours after the Schnieder. The WLP005 was slurry from a batch of black sheep ale and has been in the fridge for about a week and a half. I pitched about 400mls of VERY thick slurry. Mr malty pitching rate calculator suggested about 100mls so I erred on the side of caution!  the air lock is blipping away nicely. I expect it'll get going this afternoon.

All in all a good day!

:D :D :D

Thought I would post a quick YEAST CAM update! The wlp300 is currently trying to escape through the blow off tube, and the wlp005 is picking up speed!

Video clicky! :D :D :D
