Spent morning doing my first all grain brew. 1 gallon breakfast stout. Idea taken from the Brooklyn brew shop book I have & a bunch of stouts I've drank recently.
Recipe:
680g pale malt
226g crystal malt
68g chocolate malt
45g roast barley
45g flaked oats
12g challenger hops
1/4 cup ground coffee
250ml maple syrup
Mash 2.1litres, 60 mins at 65deg c
Sparge with 4litres water (71deg)
Then sparged wort through grains again
This gave me about 4.7 litres wort pre boil
Boil 60 mins
Hops added 4g @ 60, 2g @ 45, 2g @ 30, 2g @ 15, 2g & 5
Coffee added with 10 to go
Maple syrup @ flame out
1/2 pack of Mangrove Jack M27 Belgium Ale Yeast pitched @ 21 deg
Main issues was keeping the mash temp stable. Next time I plan to put pot in the oven instead of sparking up the stove flame every so often.
Will post pics later

Sounds good - I like the addition of coffee & maple syrup ! let us know what it tastes like !
Re: Breakfast stout 1 gallon brew
Bottled this tonight. Tastes good, definitely got a nice bitter chocolate & coffee taste with overtones of citrus. 9 bottles in the cupboard & if this improves more I'll make a bigger batch.
Only down side was my starting gravity was lower than expected so final abv was 3.5%, probably as I over filled the fv with top up water with about an extra litre.
