AG28 - Ruby Mild v2

Post by Scott-westy » Tue Sep 20, 2016 12:21 pm

Basically inspired from the Sarah Hughes classic but using darker crystal and all EKGs. I am also dry hopping this. It will be my Christmas brew in the king keg for visiting relatives.

Mashed at 69, and got 1061 OG.

Using MJ Liberty Bell yeast which will get pitched tomorrow after the wort cools in the cube.

Forgot to say I also separately boiled 2 litre of wort with some brown sugar, reducing it to 1 litre before adding back to the main boil.

Probably 2-3 tablespoons. I didn't weigh it.

Now at 1014. 50g of fuggles went in at 1020 a few days ago and I ramped it to 20c. Trial jar tastes very fruity with lots of body.

Carb test. It's good, just needs to condition until Christmas. I still find the king keg great for English style ales. The father in law will love this. Very rich, malty and very fruity with a real warmth from the abv.

About 38 IBUs and 6.2% abv (1061-1014). Nice.
