I managed to get another brew on last Friday and decided on a English IPA. I was torn between doing a beer like Bengal Lancer or Worthington white shield so decided mainly on Worthington white shield but with a bit of influence from Bengal Lancer. I believe Bengal lancer is dry hopped with target and read in a couple of places that target is good for dry hopping so as i have only ever used for bittering i thought i would give it a go. The white shield recipe came from Graham Wheelers book but i substituted 100g of pale malt for Acid malt as part of my water treatment regime.
For the yeast it had to be WLP013 which is suggested to be the white shield strain(never used it before though). I fermented out and split a 2 L starter and then made a 1.2L starter, shaken not stirred, from one of the splits.

Starter added and put in brew frisdge:
A bit slack on the photo taking and those i did were out of focus but was another successful brewday under my belt. I'm still using the no sparge method and have not noticed any issues with efficiency, in fact it has been pretty good the only slight difference is i seem to be missing my volume target. I ended up with about 28L @ 1.052 (after adding the starter) despite cutting 2L off what my beersmith profile suggests.
This has been fermenting steadily for 6 days now and is down to 1.011. i added the 30g target dry hop yesterday.

That's looking good. I'm planning some kind of American ale next but might try something like this for my next British brew

Looks great! I've seen pics of those stubby fermenters before and was wondering where can you get them?

Planning: BrewEasy system build; possibly a Wychwood Hobgoblin Gold clone
Fermenting: Simcoe SMASH
Drinking: Cascade Centennial Pale

Do you leave the hydrometer in there so you can see how the fermentation is progressing?
