Brewed this one up on 9th Feb. Second brew in a row with higher than normal efficiency. Beer Engine states Mash Efficiency of 89%, but that is actually bewhouse efficiency. Not sure if it is the change of base malt or a switch to a sort of hybrid fly/batch sparging set up that has made the difference. Possibly a bit of both. The Minch Malt Hook Series pale malt seems to be pretty good stuff though.
However, the extra efficiency is causing me some problems with hitting my targets. This was intended to be a 23 litre brew @ 1.043, but I had to reduce the boil time from 90 to 60 minutes otherwise the OG would have been way too high. I suppose I could have liquored back, but figured I could save some time with a shorter boil. Anyway, I ended up with 25 litres @ 1.044, so no complaints there.

More beer for ya money sounds good Charlie, I've been using the minch pale recently and liking it too.

Hi Chug
Yeah I must admit I do like the Minch Malt grain and it is cheap as chips too from the Homebrew Company. (I don't have any connection to them by the way).
Cheers,
