Looks fine, although I would try for a slightly higher ABV ~5% (but that's just me)

Ahh... Cool...
I did wonder if it was a little low ABV, would you reccomend a little more plain white sugar or maybe a bit bag of DSM?

Cheers Steve.

I would go for extra DSM as both your alcohol and colour are right at the bottom end of an IPA (alcohol is too low needs to be between 5% - 7.5%). However, who cares what a style guide says

Fiddling with Graham's Beer Engine, I'd say replace the sugar with 400g DSM to give an OG 1.051 and an ABV of 5.2%.
Best wishes

That looks better  Depending on the yeast you use you may find you get a lower final gravity and a higher abv.

Any Yeast Suggestions I have Safale 04 and a Gervin Real Ale yeast in at the moment or best of all Geordie lager Kit Yeast!!! Wow!! ;)

Should I go for something like Safbrew S-33 or maybe a Danstar Nottingham??

Cheers :)

S04 works fine if your after a yeast which will sit at the bottom of the keg/bottle, ferment well, drop clear quickly and give a "typical" fruity ale flavour. Some love it, others aren't too happy with it (mainly due to the flavours it imparts to the beer).
I've not tried the Gervin so can't comment on that, as for the Geordie yeast, er.....

Personally, I would go for Safale US05. It's a good yeast for IPA's (I have it in my current beer, see sig). It doesn't affect the flavour as much as so4 and can have issues dropping clear but it ferments slightly lower than s04 (for me anyway) so a few extra % abv can be attained. It also leaves the beer quite clean tasting which is always welcome to me in an IPA/APA style beer.

There are loads of other yeasts to try i.e White Labs Nottingham (WLP 039) or Danstar Nottingham - both produce very clean tasting beers and the Danstar version can be fermented at lager temps.

If you make a big enough batch (say, 10 gallons) you could always split it into two FV's and use two different yeasts to compare the results.

Okie Dokie!!! :)

Thanks for picking a yeast that http://www.simplynatural.org.uk/acatalo ... afale.html do free delivery on :)

When I do this its going to be a small batch of 12 litres (My 15 litre bucket just arrived along with a couple of tins of Coopers Extract, I just need a big enough Stock Pot (which I'm working on getting!) a tap and hop strainer) :)

Cheers for the excellent Info :)
