Grains?

About to start my first extract brew from a recipe rather than a kit, and a quick question.

The recipe is McMullen Country from Graham Wheeler's book. It says for the extract version replace the pale malt with malt extract. But the recipe also calls for crystal and black malt.

Am I right that these are what is meant by the "grains" and added to the brew in a muslin bag?

Yes. Crystal and black malt is just steeped in hot water (60-70c), and removed before you boil.
Ingredients: Water, Barley, Hops, Yeast, Seaweed, Blood, Sweat, The swim bladder of a sturgeon, My enemies tears, Scenes of mild peril, An otter's handbag and Riboflavin.
